I need a new PSU !

I NEED A NEW POWER SUPPLY UNIT ! ( PSU ) I want a good one… 800w, 700w ~ ANYTHING ~ ~ ~ ~

Now i’m living with a cheap lausy , useless psu… cant even delivery the required power of 480watt… crap ~ it has circuit protection.. if i overload it, it’ll auto shutdown… i just wish it’ll jst blow up, so  i can request money to get a new one.. even rm100 sponser is enough.. i’ll top it up.. my casing came with a psu with 500w peak, and 480 watt steady supply.. but i blew it cuz it doesnt have circuit protection.. i blew it cuz i was overclocking my CPU and GPU.. lolz … too bad.. now every (almost) game that i play, wont even last for 10 minutes, and the psu will auto shutdown.. SAD T.T SAD T.T

Gigabyte Superb 720Watt cost rm285 here but rm250 in kl.. tat my low budget selection.. higher budget price is the Gigabyte Odin GT 800W ..whooping rm 550… but it has cable management.. T.T most of the cheap psu selection wont have any good enough psu over 500w…haihz…

Power saving

If you’re an AMD processor user and an ATI graphics user, u might wonder do they have power saving abilities .. OH YEAH~ They do.. i jst found tat out recently..

For AMD processor, they have this thing called AMD ‘Cool and Quiet’.. What it does is it reduces the ratio/multiplier and the CPU Voltage when idle. As a result, u have lower core speed and requires less voltage… and thus saves energy. I managed to check this using CPU-Z, with visible multiplier, voltage and core speed keeps changing between idle and load time. But lately i cant do tat anymore.. Wonder why..

Next is ATI graphics.. well.. any ATI graphics comes with Catalyst Control Center.. All you need to do is to switch to Advanced View, and select ATI Overdrive.. Notice that it has GPU Clock and Memory Clock at the bottom side inside a white box under current values section? Mine is currently 250Mhz. It might be very low now, but when u run a game, minimize it, and check the ATI Overdrive, the CPU Clock will jump up to the max ! Which mine is 750 MHz.. so.. thats how they save power, by reducing the core speed.. !

Sorry, no screenshot, lazy wanna do it.. lolz

Computer Monitoring Software

Ever wonder what kind of hardware u got under ur big shiny CPU casing? Ever wonder which motherboard (mobo) model do u have so u can download all the drivers for it ? Ever wonder how much power ur graphics (GPU) has? Fear no more, cause i am here !

LMAO to my intro~ I gotta make it intersting rite? okay..1st is the CPUID Hardware Monitor.. What it does ? ALOT! It show voltages values, temperatures for chipset and processor, fan speed, fan speed utilization in %, GPU voltage and temp, and !! hard disk TEMP ! HoW CoOl Is TaT ! Even COOLER is it keeps record of the MIN and MAX value ! SUPER COOL! so now u can run a certain task, and see how HOT ur computer become ! HOT !

Next is !!! CPUID CPU-Z ! This software shows u the info on your mobo info, processor info, memore info. One thing bout tis software is tat u can check either u are running on dual channel memory, and also check ur memory speed.

NEXT !! NEXT !! GPU-Z ~ Whats it good for ? Well, i noticed lately tat u can actually monitor GPU Load and GPU Fan Speed ! and MemoryIO, DispalyIO and SHADER TEMP! COOL~ and not to mention GPU Load which can be useful if u’re using multi GPU and wanna see which runs more than the other ! Comes with MIN, MAX, AVG value in record too !! SUPER COOL ! but of course u need to select continue monitoring when minimized.. not to mention memory speed, core speed, and many MORE !

CPU-Z and Hardware Monitor can be found HERE! and GPU-Z HERE!. But keep in mind, if u’re mobo or gpu doesnt show any values, it might mean tat ur mobo doesnt have any sensors built into it, most common this will happen at older mobo or gpu, or mayb ur mobo is super new! u have to wait for updates.. HOHO~ ADIOS ~ CIAOS ~

Streamyxs BACK !

These few days, my internet has been a headache~ it happened when i cant login into streamyx using my acc username and pass… but the DSL light from my modem is stable~ so.. i made a complain…2 days  later…they fixed it.. but… i only managed to get 20 kbps download (tested with TM Speedometer).. of course i don’t like it at all.. so, tat nite, i called to complain again~ operator reset the port, but still inaffective. then tis morning i made another call, file a new report.. around 3.30 or 4pm, my internet DSL light was blinking~ i’m guessing it was the technition doing their job.. and i was right.. they call me to ask me to check the speed again.. and probably after 30mins, the DSL light was stable.. and i got 60 kbps.. at least i’ll survive.

So.. u’re wondering what can i totally make use of the TM hotline 100 ? Plenty i might say.. well, u can request for resetting the port or request to test the port status. I might request for those two tmr if my dl speed still slow.. if they found out that they cannot check the port status, big probability tat its faulty..same case as mine.. if u’re having any internet difficulties, i suggest doing those two mentioned above b4 u follow all their needed troubleshooting for filing a report..

Oh yea, always do a direct connection, which is from the telephone box, to ur modem with no router, and try to connect b4 u call 100.. cuz tats wat they’ll ask u to do. and if u did not do it b4, u hav to call them back again after setting up everything and be stuck waiting for available assistant.. oh yeah, and don be afraid to make complains at 100.. its just VERY simple.. my cousin once had internet problem..he don wanna complain using 100, = = dono shy or wat = = just choose the language u want, then internet services, and finally technical assistant..

i guess tats all… EAT MY CRAPPY ENGLISH !!

Made a new category on COMPUTING!! expect more from me soon.. !! SOOONNN ! ‘Rules and regulation apply’

New Rig

Ah yes… i know that i havent update any news regarding to my new comp.. well, its completed for almost a month now.. the parts are

  1. AMD Phenom II x3 720 Black Edition 2.8Ghz
  2. MSI 790GX-G65
  3. 4GB Kingston 1333Mhz
  4. Sapphire HD 4770 512MB GDDR5
  5. AVF Casing with 500W PSU
  6. 640GB Maxtor Hdd

Total cost is RM2060. Its just over 2k. I din get a new LCD monitor cuz i wanna save back some money by using back my CRT monitor.. i guess future work are to get a new WS LCD monitor, add in another HD 4770 for crossfire, upgrade the power supply to a minimum 550W for crossfire use, aftermarket CPU cooler, overclockable ram (mobo supports 1600Mhz), add additional 120cm casing fan, and probably get a USB keyboard cuz the MSI mobo only has 1 ps/2 connector.

I really like the casing with its big front air intake that houses a 120cm casing fan, it came with a lausy fan, so i changed it to a better one, with multi color LED and has better air flow. I planned on getting a CoolerMaster casing, but its damn expensive here, plus it the PSU has to be bought separately..

Too bad my HD 3850 cant crossfire with the new HD 4770.. could save some money.. The HD 3850 cost me RM600 plus.. wonder who wana buy it since the price dropped to below rm300~~ …

Well.. i did benchmark my new pc to get a score and compare it with my old pc.. to see the difference and also the max performance… and also overclock both my phenom and hd4770 … too bad my ram isnt overclockable since its a value ram from kingston.

You might wonder why did i go for newest stuff rather than those one generation older cuz its cheaper. My answer is … since my old pc is running single core, and DDR1 ram, which can be considered old school, i might as well get the latest tech so that i dont have to upgrade again in the near future as games get more demanding..

I did alot of benchmarking for my new rig.. i’ll jst post here the result for VISTA 64Bit..I only use 3DMark Vantage, since its for gaming use.. Performance setting is 6770, while entree setting is 16320
