as the title suggested, it happened to my mobo.. hahaha, u see, MSI issued a new BIOS version, from 1.40 to version 1.5 .. i’m having a lot of glitchy moment, with my computer, i’m not sure if its cuz of my hardware, or bios or windows , i decided to flash the bios to 1.5.. it has CCC, cpu core control, if i’m not mistaken, it can unlock the 4th core in certain triple core processor, which i wanted to try it.

So i flash the bios using the M-Flash, the built in USB flashing method. i tried tat b4, so i’m confident it’ll work.. but to my dismay, my mobo wont start anymore, the USB Flash Recovery always came up, searching for the 1.5 version BIOS, i gav it what it wants, but after recovery successful, it wont reboot and work properly !!

After few tries, i went to google for solution, it din came right away tho. until i found tis guy who is also havin problem with the 1.5v BIOS. Turns out that version is unstable, cant really install it using the USB M-Flash method. Luckily there is a guy who posted a solution. Brilliant idea tho..which is rename the 1.4v BIOS to 1.5v BIOS and let it detect during USB BIOS recovery. the computer detect the file and i managed to access the BIOS menu, although it has only the M-Flash menu, but it was sufficient. All i did was to re-flash it again with the original 1.4v BIOS

 And voila~ its fixed. its 2.30AM.. my gf was or still is, very sad at me, cuz i’m not understanding enough.. added with my computer failure, that the reason why i’m still here at 2.30am..and i hav to meet up with my supervisor at 8.30am.. tsk tsk.. i better go to bed.. tata, nite

Woot~ today is my last exam paper….. hehehe~ i’m basically free but i still have thesis presentation to go thru between 17th to 20th.. hope i wont get questioned much that might influence my thesis.

today is my last exam paper, and ITS also today that i fell down @@ i went down from my car to open the gates, it was raining. i went up to the car porch cuz the clothes rack was there, so after moving it, i somehow, walked too fast, and i SLIPPED !! I was still having momentum when i fell, thus, i fell butt 1st, then a big thud at my back. Damn it was painless, and pretty shaken up, i had to keep my head upwards from hitting the floor. thus.. i’m having body ache, sore neck, and tiny bit of heavy headed.

tmr i’m goin to tamparuli to get some durian hutan !! oh yeah~ !! mayb i should bring a camera.

I’m seriously behind in the modern world of tech. Well, i’ll try to fill in as much as i can. PS3 Slim is out, the slimness isnt tat slim like ps2 slim, but, its slightly smaller due to the advancement in 40nm or 45nm chip design. Heard its cheaper than the original big ps3. i’m asumming rm1500

AMD finally started selling their AMD Athlon II series of processor, from dual core, triple core and quad core variations. And of course, even the highest spec for quad core only cost less than rm400. Not to mention the new ATI HD 5000 series, now has the 5750, 5770, 5850, and 5870. Which one better u may ask, if you already have a 4870, there is no use in changing to 5770 cuz the performance doesnt differ much. Only switch if u have interest in multiple DVI setup and DirectX 11.

USB 3.0 is gaining porpulatity, lots of manufacturers beginning to manufacture add on card for USB3.0, and even laptop’s EXpress card for USB 3.0.

 Apparently, Kingston started selling a new type of usb thumbdrive, the DATA TRAVELLER  120 with the max capacity available is 32G , writing and data speeds however, is unknown. and surprising enuff, thumbdrive prices rose up quite steeply, usually a 8GB is priced around rm 50, now its rm 62.. tsk.. scumbags..

Its been a while since i last blogged.. well, its due to my assignments and final year project, and also mid-term. so now i’m gonna write abit.

So, whats been goin on in the world of computing ? well,  ATi now released their HD 5000 series GPU~ which is a whoop-ass ~ capable of whooping NVIDIA~ HD5870, HD5850 are now on sale..range between 900 to 1500 ringgit, lowest price is for the 5850. Coming soon, could possibly the 5750 and 5770~ the HD5000 series basically supports DirectX 11, multi DVI support, and so so so so on on on….~ lolZ

Next is the AMD Athlon II X4, yes, X4 means its quad core.. !! its damn cheap~ and powerful.. worth the money.. for the highest spec, it’ll jst cost u rm365. compared to intel quad core q8200, which is the cheapest, cost rm555~ intel 2.33 GHz, amd 2.6Ghz.. but of course there is a big difference in cache capacity. a difference of 2MB.. having such high cache is mainly useless if u’re not running really taxing programs of processing.if u wan to brag u hav a quad core processor and don wanna break ur wallet.. amd is the way to go.. and, of course, im an AMD supporter ^^

Super small form PC is getting popularity these days. I mean super small is no bigger than a 15inch monitor.. or smaller, lol! ! but of course small means lack of power, but still enough to do web surfing and documentations. My library is packed with it !! one long hallway is full of it. why is it so good ? its energy efficient thanks to the intel atom processor, cost is cheap too,saves space.. good for libraries. Something like a desktop version of Nettop..i think they call it nettop or something..the really tiny laptopssssssssssssssssssssssssssss…….

 USB 3.0 is emerging.. USB drives are getting larger..hmm..what else.. bought new external HDD, Western digital 320gb with a rm25 casing.. and also a kingston data traveller G2, 8GB, which i insist on not GETTING IT !! better of with the swivel type, because of its faster write speed.. an extra 2mb more than this G2 of 5mb.. sux~

 Went to sandakan on raya holidays, supposed to be earlier, but got postponed. Met new frens, went eat , sightseeing, and driving too.. hahaha..3 days 2 nites isnt enuff due to rain every nite.. and the incident while we’re on the way to sdk, rental car broke down..and also the holidays which some of the places are closed. I really like the ‘pi dan gao’…very nice le tat one.

Everything seems to drop price.. my processor, phenom ii x3 720 black edition..the initial price i bought it , i now can buy a phenom ii x4, QUAD !! but mine specialized in over-clocking.. heheh.. i can boost it up till 3.7Ghz..from the stock of 2.8GHZ~ even my hd4770.. the on step higher is the hd 4850, the price significantly dropped.. but i didn’t regret buying hd4770.. hehehe~ why, because it has great overclock capabilities.. hahaha..

I found out last nite that my laptop NEC P8210 with Intel Centrino T2300 1.6Ghz ~ Doesnt support 64bit~ that is kinda absurd.. Although its just 3 years old, even more than 3 years ago, all processors are built with 64bit compatible.. I tried to install windows 64bit with into my laptop, but after bootup the disc, it says my CPU is not 64bit compatible..reasons for using 64bit is that its smoother.. i think should be better than 32bit as i’ve now using vista 64bit.. and it works well..

A little bit of something after a slight period of not blogging..

I bought a new Power Supply Unit (PSU). Cost me rm 285.. rm35 more expensive than KL.. wanted to get it from her got warranty issue.. just in case.. i almost went for the rm550 power supply. The 1st thing i did with is it take some pics , then buckle it up into my casing, finally, i overclock (OC) my cpu and gpu to the max !! and u’ll be amazed with the results

Pikom PC Fair this weekend.. bought myself a mouse and webcam.. both A4tech.. webcam is satisfactory, but the mouse, i should’ve gone for the rm10 mouse instead of the GLaser mouse, rm25. It works on glass,but not tat accurate sometimes..so.. in the end, i still need mousepad. btw, i’m using a glass table. Theres a few promoters wearing mask.. but then, y those ‘potentially’ pretty promoters wanna wear mask anyways? lol~ Mask = covers potential beauty, but too can cover the opposite.

 Last week my internet was so terrible. DSL disconnection, terrible download speed, super high ping, dsl reconnection super slow.. i made alot of reports.. 4 or five.. lol~ cuz the internet kept breaking down once its okay. They did find some faults at TM side, but after fixing it, its still problematic.. in the end, TM tech came and replace my modem to a new one.. i’ve been using my il modem for more than 4 years..AND IT WORKS ! its super fast now.. lolZ~

I’m goin to sandakan on the 16th till 18th. Problem is.. my dad keep insisting me to drive my car over, for safety he said. was planning to go there by van, and so my dad say the van might hav no insurance, engine bay is beneath the driver seat, its not safe, no airbag..bla bla bla.. reason i don wanna drive is so i can hav some fun while on the road, and driving 6 hours or 7 hours is tiresome = =,and he did mention about H1N1…

 Somehow.. something kept reviving my past and making me cant let go .. = =

Theres been a case where a student from civil engineering got infected with H1N1… sadly, he/she is from the engineering faculty..!!! same faculty as mine.. damn~ and i heard 2 more students from ums got infected..tho not 100% confirmed as the newspaper only reported 1 ppl.. still wonder y ppl still wanna go out country since the H1N1 topic is so HOT nowdays… stupid i say..

Every1 near me is getting sick ! My cousin got sick, probably due to some kid sneeze next to his face in cyber.. alot of schools are closed cuz if H1N1.. KIDS ARE MORE PRONE TO INFECTION! DANG~ and i sat about 1 hour 30mins in the car with him yesterday.. My fren who is doing FYP on the same topic is sick now.. got it from a fren = = .. and my lecture is sick, making today’s class canceled..

Tonight..after playing dota.. it feels so hot !! damn~ made me worry about the stupid sickness.. ate 2 panadols and flu medi.. i’ll be fine tmr.. be positive.. 2day some kid in KL dies suddenly of breathing difficulties.. related to H1N1 but shows no sympton… what the.. @@ its getting scarrier.. i hope my antibody is rock solid..since i’m known for my nose allergic..

I NEED A NEW POWER SUPPLY UNIT ! ( PSU ) I want a good one… 800w, 700w ~ ANYTHING ~ ~ ~ ~

Now i’m living with a cheap lausy , useless psu… cant even delivery the required power of 480watt… crap ~ it has circuit protection.. if i overload it, it’ll auto shutdown… i just wish it’ll jst blow up, so  i can request money to get a new one.. even rm100 sponser is enough.. i’ll top it up.. my casing came with a psu with 500w peak, and 480 watt steady supply.. but i blew it cuz it doesnt have circuit protection.. i blew it cuz i was overclocking my CPU and GPU.. lolz … too bad.. now every (almost) game that i play, wont even last for 10 minutes, and the psu will auto shutdown.. SAD T.T SAD T.T 

Gigabyte Superb 720Watt cost rm285 here but rm250 in kl.. tat my low budget selection.. higher budget price is the Gigabyte Odin GT 800W ..whooping rm 550… but it has cable management.. T.T most of the cheap psu selection wont have any good enough psu over 500w…haihz…

If you’re an AMD processor user and an ATI graphics user, u might wonder do they have power saving abilities .. OH YEAH~ They do.. i jst found tat out recently..

For AMD processor, they have this thing called AMD ‘Cool and Quiet’.. What it does is it reduces the ratio/multiplier and the CPU Voltage when idle. As a result, u have lower core speed and requires less voltage… and thus saves energy. I managed to check this using CPU-Z, with visible multiplier, voltage and core speed keeps changing between idle and load time. But lately i cant do tat anymore.. Wonder why..

Next is ATI graphics.. well.. any ATI graphics comes with Catalyst Control Center.. All you need to do is to switch to Advanced View, and select ATI Overdrive.. Notice that it has GPU Clock and Memory Clock at the bottom side inside a white box under current values section? Mine is currently 250Mhz. It might be very low now, but when u run a game, minimize it, and check the ATI Overdrive, the CPU Clock will jump up to the max ! Which mine is 750 MHz.. so.. thats how they save power, by reducing the core speed.. !
